1. Why should I get a Wordpress blog installed on my own domain?
When you have your own site on your own domain it’s like having virtual real estate. But, building a standard website with static webpages can be very time consuming and it requires knowledge of HTML. With a Wordpress blog, you have a control panel that makes modifying your site and adding content very easy. Plus, the search engines LOVE WordPress blogs! So, if you pick the right keywords you will have a better chance for ranking on sites like Google.
2. Why is a Wordpress blog better than Blogger?
If you have a blog on Blogger, you don’t own the content – Google does. They can shut down your account anytime they want to without warning if they *think* you’re a spam blog (otherwise known as a “splog”) or if they just don’t like what you have on your blog. Blogger also doesn’t let you sort your articles into categories and they only have a limited number of “ping” sites, which means limited promotion. When I install your blog, I will include a long list of automatic ping sites and some great WordPress plugins that will integrate some Web. 2.0 features and enable your blog to be more interactive for your visitors.
3. Why do you offer the installation service for free?I require that you use my preferred providers for the website services that you will already need. My preferred providers pay me for referring you, so I don’t have to charge YOU for the work involved in providing you with this personalized installation service. It’s works out great for all parties involved!
4. WordPress is a free download. So, why can’t I just install it myself? You absolutely can. But you may not have the time or you may not know how to do things like FTP files to your hosting account, setup a MSQL database and add it to PHP code in the ‘wp-config’ file, and CHMOD the files so you can modify them. You also need to know how to add themes and plugins. When you sign up for my free service I do all of that for you!
5. I already have a website and hosting account, but I want a WordPress blog installed too. Can you still install my blog for free? No, but if you would like to pay for this service I charge $27.00 (paid via PayPal only to admin[at]myblogconsult.com).
6. Can I choose the theme for my blog? Yes, of course! You can find your theme and download it for free by clicking here. Be sure to include your theme’s zip file [only zip files will be accepted] on the Wordpress installation request form. If you forgot or had difficulty with the upload, you can email me the downloaded zip file to: admin[at]myblogconsult.com after you have completed your installation request.
7. How long will it take to get my blog setup? Installation is usually completed within 24-48 hours. If I anticipate it may take longer, I will let you know as soon as I am aware of any potential delay.
